Why this ALEX Toys set

A wooden porcupine with eight bright pegs and a mallet. Babies whack the pegs down, flip the base and whack them down again, practising aim and cause and effect. It is a classic first tool toy, solid enough to survive years of enthusiastic hammering.

Alex Jr. Pound and Play Porcupine is a safe and fun toy for babies! Who would have thought that you would be telling your baby to whack something with a miniature hammer? It’s all part of the fun with the Pound and Play Porcupine by Alex Toys. Little ones will love this classic wood pounding activity with (8) colorful pegs and a mallet. Learning to pick up the pegs and then bopping them down the holes is also a sure way to develop the fine motor skills in your baby. Bright colors and a variety of patterns also engage the senses while babies learn how to navigate the power in those tiny fingers and hands.

What buyers wrote about this set

my son absolutely loves this toy. he either pulls all the pegs out or pushes them through. doesnt use the hammer but he will sit and play for 30 plus mins which is amazing for a 10 month old

My 8 month old loves pushing the pegs down now & hitting things with the hammer. I know as he grows into this toy, he will have lots of fun! Beautifully made. Great toy.

At first I thought I was going to love this toy. It is wooden, similar to Hape toys but the quality is definitely not the same. The colored pieces don't stay up, they just fall down. My son gets very frustrated because they fall down before he gets to use the hammer on them. He does still play with the toy and is learning his colors.
