First, let me say that I have used metallic colored pencils before, so I knew what to expect from these. For those who haven't, they don't produce truly metallic looking colors when used. That aside they do produce really beautiful colors that can be darkened and lightened better than standard color pencils. I purchased this set to replace a set of metallic pencils that I used until they were all getting a little on the short side. While this set was not identical, they included a good range of beautiful colors that are easy to use and produce some very lovely shades from pale/transparent to very dark. These really are wonderful additions to anyone's color pencil arsenal.
I love these metallic pencils. They make all my colored pages look exceptional. I often like to use them to line or shade a section and then color in or shade it with the non-metallic pencil in the same or slightly lighter color. It gives good depth to the picture. I have even given these as gifts to friends who are coloring enthusiasts like I am.
Terrific colors but not as metallic as I would have liked! Still a versatile aND good product!
I got these to have some different colors in my collection. Between the unfamiliar (to me) brand name and the low cost, I didn't put much stock in the quality of these. Thus, when they colored beautifully, I was very pleasantly surprised. I have Prismacolor pencils that basically set the bar for quality, and these are nearly comparable. I did a side by side comparison in a design I'm working on (see photo), and the quality was very nearly equal to the Prismacolor. The red is Prismacolor, the blue is the Alex Toys brand. I plan on buying more from this brand (there's a few packages in my cart now, actually).
